The Golden Eagle Festival is a unique cultural event held every autumn in western Mongolia, in the Altai Mountains of Bayan-Ölgii province. It celebrates the ancient tradition of Kazakh eagle hunting, where skilled hunters (called Berkutchi) showcase their bond with trained golden eagles. During the festival, hunters compete in events such as calling their eagles from a distance, hunting simulations, and traditional horseback games. Visitors can experience authentic Kazakh culture, colorful traditional clothing, local music, and nomadic hospitality. This festival offers a rare opportunity to witness one of the world’s oldest hunting traditions still alive today, set against the dramatic landscapes of the Mongolian Altai.
