Explore the breathtaking wilderness of Altai Tavan Bogd National Park, home to Mongolia’s highest peaks and stunning alpine scenery. Hike through rugged valleys, cross high mountain passes, and experience rewarding climbs with panoramic views over glaciers and dramatic ridgelines. Along the way, immerse yourself in the authentic lifestyle of local Kazakh nomads. Stay with traditional eagle hunter families, learn about their ancient culture, and witness the unique bond between hunters and their golden eagles—an experience found nowhere else in the world.
From Ulaanbatar, take a 3 hour flight to Ulgii City in the Bayan-Ulgii province in Western Mongolia. Your driver will welcome you upon arrival to Ulgii. You'll have breakfast at Turkish Restaurant after breakfast for the road, the journey begins! We head to Tavan Bogd National Park, through its the stunning wilderness where expansive rocky plains give way to green valley, and the rugged peaks of the Altai. We will stop at Ulaan-khus to explore numerous petroglyphs and Turkic stone along the Sogoog River basin. It is surrounded by archaeological monuments constructed during the Bronze Age and the Hun and Turkic invasions. In the evening, we will arrive at the campsite on the edge of the National Park boundary.

After breakfast, we will drive to Ovoo Hill, then hike towards the base camp of the snow-capped Tavan Bogd Massif. This gradual ascent takes us through breathtaking high-mountain landscapes, featuring rocky outcrops and wetlands. Our journey leads us to the magnificent Potanin Glacier, where you’ll witness both the Potanin and Alexander glaciers. Stretching 20 km, the Potanin Glacier is fed by Mongolia’s highest peaks and serves as an ideal base for trekking and climbing the surrounding summits. We will hike alongside the Potanin Glacier, surrounded by spectacular alpine scenery. With a bit of luck, you may spot local wildlife such as marmots, hares, and various birds, including Golden Eagles, Black Vultures, and Falcons.

Base Camp is one of the most beautiful places in Mongolia for camping. Here you have an opportunity to enjoy a panoramic view of the Altai Mountains / Five Saints/ and Potanin Glacier. We would have early breakfast. Then we would head up to Malchin peak. Malchin peak is one of the 5 peaks of Altai Tavan Bogd mountain with altitude of 4050meters from sea level. It takes 9-10 hours for us to get to top and back to our camp. The view is incredible!

Day 4 – Tuesday – Aug 4th Khoton Khurgan crystal tween lake & Meeting with Eagle Hunter
Today we will drive to Khoton, Khurgan crystal clear tween lakes. Untouched and pure, the mountain rivers gushing into the lakes, make for an impressive landscape and a fabulous place. Along the way, we will stop to visit deer stones, balbals, and Turkic stone men, ancient monuments that offer insight into Mongolia’s rich history and nomadic heritage. We continue down the dramatic, steep valley along the river that drains from the Altai Tavanbogd Massif, Our camp site will be a mere 3km away from China and will have a back drop of the beautiful snowcapped mountain range - outlining the Mongolian-Chinese border. In the summer, the area is the pasture of Kazakh nomads, and In the evening, we will visit a local Kazakh family, observing their nomadic life Evening visit an Eagle Hunting family, where you'll learn about the practice and skill of eagle hunting. Get the opportunity to take photos with an eagle perched on your arm. We camp near the Eagle Hunter's family home. Accommodation: Kazakh Embroidered Ger
The Turgen Falls are located within the Altai mountain range, near to the Khurgan and Khoton Lakes. They are fed by the Turgen river which takes its source from glacial snowmelt, in the surrounding mountains.
With the backdrop of high alpine pastures running into tree-fringed mountains, the setting is stunning. Once you have arrived here, there are some beautiful walks to be had first to the upper levels of the falls then further into the area.
At 36 Metres they technically are, but they divided into two segments, one a 23 Meter drop and the other 13 meters.

Today after breakfast we drive back to Ulgii, we drive 6 hours driving today, and reach Ulgiii in the evening. We will visit art shops, black market and Friendship Hill. Dinner at Turkish Restaurant
