HUNTING WITH EAGLES
Price :
$ 1,250.00

OVERVIEW

Bayan-Olgii province is home to the world's most active Mongolian eagle hunters. For thousands of years, the nomadic Kazakh people of this region have preserved their old Kazakh culture. The "nomadic lifestyle" is the primary reason they are able to maintain these customs.

They migrate four times per year. Their way of life is incredibly fantastic, yet it can also be extremely difficult. They care for their animals beginning in the early morning and continuing until late evening.
The Nomad's children begin to aid the family at a young age while also learning nomadic traditions and skills. They have a natural affinity for eagle hunting. The Kazakh eagle hunters learn eagle training from their fathers and pass it down from generation to generation.

There are currently around 200 Mongolian eagle hunters in the Bayan-Olgii province. Our Discover Altai team provides you with the rare opportunity to see a Kazakh eagle hunter's family in this distant corner of the planet.

You will have the opportunity to stay with a family and learn about many ancient traditions. Take part in actual golden eagle hunting. The Kazakh eagle hunters will demonstrate how they train their eagles.

Enjoy the breathtaking Altai mountains, and feel free to photograph and video the scenery. A once-in-a-lifetime experience guaranteed!

Golden Eagle Facts: Female eagles have larger bodies and are braver than males. Eagle hunters prefer female eagles because of their strength and power.
Eagles have amazing speed, far from sight, and powerful feet with keen talons.
Eagles mainly target mammals, but they can hunt larger ones if they wish.

Day 1

1 DAY - FLY TO BAYAN ULGII

Arrive in Bayan-Olgii

Welcome to the land of the Altai Mountains and nomadic Mongolian eagle hunters. More than 90% of the province's population is ethnic Kazakh, who have an ancient practice of hunting golden eagles.

When you arrive at the airport, your local support team will meet you.

This includes an English-speaking tour leader, driver, and chef. We'll drive to the Golden Eagle Hunter's family.

They will prepare the traditional Kazakh supper "Bes Barmakh," which consists of a large platter of meat from various parts of the animal, potatoes, and noodles. The name of the meal means "five fingers," therefore you'll eat it with your hands rather than a fork. Enjoy the hospitality of the nomadic people.

Day 3

3 DAY EAGLE HUNTING & PHOTOGRAPHY

More riding and hunting with golden eagles. During your stay with the eagle hunter's family, you'll ride horses with him to the nearby mountains. Eagle hunters only hunt during the winter months, when the gold-colored foxes are easily visible against the snow. The hunter uses his eagle to hunt tiny creatures including foxes, corsac foxes, and rabbits. If you're lucky, you'll be able to watch the golden eagle catch its prey and photograph the entire scene.
