14 amazing days of trekking with my guide to nearby rivers, lakes, snow-capped mountains and plains through all types of weather; hail, snow, rain, wind, you name it. The person who helped me plan all this, Peka, helped me secure the perfect guide that I got to know very well and provided me with equipment I did not have.

I travelled together with... read more one other solo traveller (both female) for a week through the Western parts of Mongolia. Starting in Ulgii, we hiked the Maltin peak and crossed through the Tavan Bogd NP. We visited a super friendly eagle hunting family, rode horses to a tucked away waterfall, we saw the graves of Turk warlords and drank mineral water. We were welcomed by local nomads everywhere, and drove through the most rugged terrain. I washed my hair in the river and laughed every single day. It is a family company, and I felt like we were family. The driving was secure, fast. Our guide could tell us so many fascinating things about Kazakh culture, histories of the land, and current traditions. We played cards and ate delicious meals- even some freshly caught fish! We slept in a tent and we were toasty warm with a ton of insulation. We saw incredible sights, words can't describe. It was one of the richest, most special weeks of my life.
